A deeper look into Nootropics

Nootropics, you've seen us post about them, you've heard the discussions about them and more than likely if you're reading this you know how we have infused them into our preworkout, N1TROUS.  Rather than throw around alot of big words we're going to break Nootropics down bit by bit so you know exactly what they are and how they work.

First off, what is it?

Nootropics are a synthetic compound used to increase mental focus and function on an everyday level, but not just anything that is good for the brain can be called a nootropic.  For something to be classified as a Nootropic it must fall into a list of 5 criteria that were put in place by Dr. Corneliu E. Giurgea, who originally gave the term Nootropics.

  • Enhance memory and ability to learn
  • Help brain function under disruptive conditions
  • Improve neuronal firing mechanisms
  • Protect your brain from harmful chemical damage
  • Lack any sedative, stimulant or toxic affect

As you can see not just anything can be called a Nootropic, it has to prove itself before it can earn that title!

So how do they work?

One of the ways nootropics work is by an increase in blood flow and oxygen to the brain, while also increasing metabolism of glucose.  So while that is happening, the increase of nutrients and oxygen to the brain help the overall output of your brain function, while improving mood, alertness, and a reinforced sense of well being.   In addition, another way they work is by helping the synapses in the brain fire more efficiently, it is even speculated that nootropics actually promote even MORE synapses to be created and enhances the signalling between neurons and in turn increases cognitive function.

Utilizing Nootropics in the gym

So now that we've talked about what happens on the inside, lets discuss what can happen on the outside from the use of Nootropics

From an athletic point of view, what benefits would an improvement in cognitive function mean to an fit body?  Now there is something known to athletes as "mind to muscle" connection.  Mind muscle connection or MMC in the simplest of terms is the process of understanding and being able to have total control of each muscle as it contracts and rather than seeing it, you are able to feel it.  As the brain becomes more and more involved you are able to feel how beneficial each motion and contraction is, and more importantly how effective you're able to target the muscle.  Have you ever lifted a muscle group but only to wake up the next day with other random muscles sore?  Without a strong MMC you could be wasting a lot of excess energy and not truly targeting what you intended.  Using nootropics after establishing a good mind muscle connection can take your workouts to the next level by ensuring each exercise, each set, and each rep is as beneficial to you as possible.

Nootropic supplements

So you might ask yourself, why preworkout?  Whats the point of adding these super supplements to it?  The answer is really quite simple, when looking over the other PWO's on the market you can see all of the different stims that have been added to give you the best workout possible, but is it really?  Sure you might feel great for the first 20-30 mins but soon after that the jitters will kick in, the unsettled stomach, loss of appetite and the ever dreaded crash.  Now that didnt sound very appealing to us either, so we decided to take matters into our own hands and developed N1TROUS.  By infusing Nootropics into our PWO we were able to give the user clean long lasting energy, laser like focus, and insane endurance but without the negative aspects we mention above.  Dont take our word for it, try N1TROUS and see for yourself, join the revolution and never look back at another preworkout again.
